The Wine Advocate:
“Although not very clear from looking at the label, it seems like the NV Macarena Manzanilla is marketed by Lustau and produced by Bodegas Elías González from Sanlucar de Barrameda. It is a medium-age Manzanilla, with some powerful notes of esparto grass, olives, iodine and a medium-bodied palate with pungent, saline flavors of brine and green almonds.
Despite being one of the most popular names in foreign markets, Lustau is a relatively small Sherry produced, with 350,000 bottles per year. They are bottling small lots of unfiltered, biologically aged wines from the three allowed villages, Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, which make for an interesting comparison. I tasted the Autumn 2014 bottling, but I did not see the final labels, I hope they do have the bottling date very clear on them..”
